We're very excited about our new house and eager to share all the details, so we've created this "virtual diary of renovation" until we can show off the new place to everyone in person.
We decided to purchase a single family home in Chicago rather than a condo because we both wanted to have a yard, a garage, no noisy neighbors above us - the simple things in life.
We came to Chicago in May for a hectic schedule of job interviews and househunting, and after 2 solid days of looking, we found our home.
Located in South Chicago, this little gem sits on a tree lined block surrounded by familes that have lived in their homes for twenty, thirty, or even more years. Longevity was a huge attraction to us, as this is the last time we will ever move.

The home was built in 1926 and has had only 3 owners. The original owner was a Polish woman who left the neighborhood in the 1970's. The second owner was an African American family, and the final owners are the Schulze-Langowski's.
